Nyra is an incense stick holder in solid mango wood, carved by hand. Mango is lighter and paler than sheesham, with a softer grain that suits the rounded shape.

For the morning puja or the evening wind-down. The pale wood shows the ash, so you'll know when to empty it.

Looking after it

Hand wash with mild soap and dry it straight away. Keep it out of the dishwasher and the microwave, away from direct sun and away from standing water. A thin coat of coconut or mustard oil once a month keeps the wood from drying out.

Bulk and corporate orders ›

Is the wood solid, or a veneer?

Solid, always. Every piece is turned or cut from one block of sheesham or mango, which is why the grain runs through the edge as well as the face. Nothing here is a thin skin over board.

Can I serve food on it?

Yes. Every piece is sealed with food-safe oil, and the plates, bowls, boards and trays are made for daily use. Wash by hand with mild soap and dry it straight away rather than leaving it to sit wet.

Will it look exactly like the photograph?

The shape and the carving will. The grain will not, because no two boards are alike, and that is the part we would not want to standardise. The photograph shows you the pattern rather than promises it.

How long does delivery take?

Pieces are in stock, so they leave the workshop quickly and reach you in 5 to 8 working days anywhere in India. Delivery is free on orders over ₹500 and ₹100 below that. If something arrives damaged in transit, send us a photo within 48 hours and we replace it.

Does the wood need oiling?

A thin coat of coconut or mustard oil once a month keeps it from drying out, and takes about a minute. Left dry for a long time in a hot room, any solid wood will eventually lighten and open up at the grain.

Can I order in bulk, or have a name engraved?

Yes, from twenty pieces upward. Names, dates or a logo can be cut into the wood, and the price per piece drops as the order grows. Tell us what you need on the bulk orders page and we reply within one working day with a price and a date.
